First pilgrimage to St. Paul in behalf of state aid for Cook County roads, 1930 February 12.

A paper "prepared by County Attorney, S. C. Murphy" giving information on early road construction in Cook County, Minnesota. Murphy describes the county's need for roads and road construction funding. In 1895 the Minnesota State Legislature passed a law authorizing counties to issue bonds for road and bridge construction. Bond issues were passed in 1895 and 1911 for road construction in Cook County. The paper was read at "Reunion" held at the Court House Assembly Room at Grand Marais, Minnesota, February 12, 1930.
